A white index card containing the name, rank and military history of a soldier of Waterloo County. Card also includes a photograph. Card also contains a red cross.
Private Arthur Hamm was born October 28, 1888 in Doon, Ontario. He was the son of John H. Hamm and Eliza Boundy.
He enlisted in Galt, Ontario on January 6, 1916 with the 111th Battalion. His attestation papers show that he had been a labourer and single. His religion was given as Methodist. His regimental service number was 730326.
He served with the 4th Battalion, Canadian Infantry in France. While employed on a carrying party during the attack at Vimy Ridge on April 9, 1917, he was wounded by a shell. He was attended to and removed to No. 1 Canadian field ambulance where he died shortly afterwards.
He was buried at the Quatre-Vents Military Cemetery in Estree-Cauchy, France.
