Enlisted March 16, 1916 with 118th Battalion and transferred to 1st Canadian Battalion, France.
Lutheran.
Born Oct. 16, 1895 at Williamsburg.
His mother is Mrs. John Gilbert Main, R. R. 2 Kitchener, Ont. He lives at Preston, R.R. 2 C/e Henry Thoman.
He served two years overseas - ten months in France. Wounded in right abdomen and left index finger while on patrol Hill 70.

Pellar, Harry Frederick

Private Harry Pellar was born on September 16, 1895 in Preston, Ontario, the son of Janet Pellar. He enlisted in the 118th Battalion on November 29th 1915. Quartered in the Williams,Greene and Rome Shirt Factory in Kitchener, the battalion were sent to London, and later, Camp Borden, for training. Harry was rejected for infantry service due to flat feet. He transferred to the 256th Railway Construction. On March 25th they boarded the Missanabe, landing at Liverpool and then onto LeHavre, France. Harry became a Sargeant IT instructor. Harry endured a few hospital stays for severe trench fever and septic hand, returned to hospitals in Britain and was discharged in Toronto on March 29, 1919.
Harry worked at McBrine Luggage and later, until his retirement, the Kitchener Post Office. He was a Past President of the Canadian Legion in Kitchener and a member of the Grand River Masonic Lodge.
At the start of WWII, Harry enlisted in the Veterans Guard, stationed in Northern Ontario.
Harry married Hazel Winter and they became parents of three sons, Bruce, Neil, Ron and a daughter Ferol.
Harry's wife Hazel died in 1966, Harry died 1967.
Their descendants number 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The soldier card incorrectly notes his name as "Harry J. Pellar."

Enlisted with 118th Battalion at Kitchener, November 26, 1915.
He is the son of Mrs. Clara Bailey, of Waterloo. He was born in Canada and received his education in Kitchener.
Methodist.
He transferred from the 118th Battalion to 25th Reserve Battalion to 26th Reserve at Bramshott and to the Young Soldiers' Battalion.
He was born in 1893 and married Lilian Dorothy Walker.
He went to London on May 22, 1916, moved to Camp Borden July 9, 1916, returned to London November 9, 1916. Then he went to Halifax, N.S. on January 26, 1917. He camped at Bramshott and Rhyl North Wales.
He worked on the Canadian Army Pay Corps.
He was discharged in London and is living in Preston, Ontario, Box. 106.

He was discharged April 24, 1919.
He landed in England February 6, 1917 and went to France May 18, 1917. He took part in Battles at Passchendaele, Amiens, Arras and Cambrai, serving 22 months in France. He was Company Runner.
He was wounded at Cambrai, October 1, 1918.
His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Goudie, live at 25 Brubacher Street, Kitchener.
