Maude Bowman was born in West Montrose, Ontario, on 16 February 1885. Her father was Leander Bowman. When she attested, she was living at the Kingsley Hotel in London, England. Prior to joining the Canadian Expeditionary Force, Maude had served a year doing military nursing in Egypt under the Imperial Government.

Born February 16, 1885 two miles south of Winterbourne on the homestead in Woolwich Township.
Graduated from the General and Marine Hospital St. Catherines, Ontario in 1913.
Single.
She served one year in Moore Barracks, Shorncliffe, England.
One year in Alexandria and Port Said, Egypt and two years in France.
She is still with Canadian General Hospital in France.
