Hogan, Eleanor I. [clipping] 26 Jan 1943 [image] Eleanor Hogan [clipping] Eleanor Hogan Pte. Eleanor Irene Hogan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hogan, 7 Rose street, enlisted last November with the C.W.A.C. and is stationed at London. Eleanor Hogan was born in Galt, attended St. Mary's school and was employed as a winder at the Stauffer-Dobbie plant before she enlisted in the women's division of the Canadian Active Army. A brother, Jack, is on active service with the artillery. Her religion is Roman Catholic.

Hogan, George [clipping] [image] George Hogan [clipping] Galt 12 Jan 1945 George Hogan EA George Hogan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hogan, 7 Rose St., has been with the RCNVR since last May and now on Winnipeg. Born in Galt, October 1925, he attended St. Mary's school in Galt and St. Jerome's College in Kitchener. Before joining the navy he was a machinist at Whitehall Machine Co. Hespeler. His religion is Roman Catholic.

[clipping] Dec 1940 Holtzhauer, George [image] George R. Holtzhauer Pte. George Roy Holtzhauer, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Holtzhauer, R.R.1, St. George, is on active service with the 1st Btn. H.L.I. of C. He enlisted June 9, 1940. Before enlisting he was driving a truck for I.K. Martin. He has a brother Wilbert with the R.C.R., a cousin William with the Field Ambulance, and a brother-in-law, Joe Patient, with the R.C.A.S.C. Pte. Holtzhauer had been a member of the the regiment for two years before going on active service when it was mobilized. He was born in Galt and he attended school here. Two uncles served in the last war. He attended Wesley United church.

[clipping] Galt 23 Jan 1940 Holtzhauer, Wilbert [image] Corp. Wilbert Holtzhauer Corp. Wilbert Holtzhauer was the 10th man to sign up with the Royal Canadian Regiment at London after recruiting started. Corp. Holtzhauer was a member of the H.L.I. of C. Before enlisting he was employed as a mechanic at the City Garage. He was born July 1, 1914, at Neepawa, Man., but came to Galt as a boy and attended Victoria school. He is married, his wife and two sons living in London. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Holtzhauer, R.R No. 1, St. George. Corp. Holtzhauer received a knee injury in the accident that occurred to the troop train in Nova Scotia last December. He was returned at that time to the R. C. R. depot in London to recuperate. Two uncles served in the first Great War. He attended Wesley United church. (Regimental N. A-3010)

[clipping] Jan 1940 Hood, James [image] Corporal James Hood Corporal James Hood enlisted with the Royal Canadian Regiment July 16, 1938, a little more than a year before war was declared. Since going to England he has been promoted from the rank of Lance Corporal to the full rank of Corporal. Born in Sheffield, he is a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hood of Sheffield, and a brother of Mrs. E.D. Scott, 24 Blair road, Galt. Corporal Hood attended school at Sheffield, went to Galt Business College and before enlisting was employed at Scott’s Plumbing shop. Corporal Hood started to go overseas with the first division, but sustained a minor injury in a train accident in Canada and so he sailed later with the second division. Corporal Hood was prominent for years in the Scout movement here and later was active as a Rover Scout. He was a member of H.L.I. of C. (Regimental No. P-13260)

Hopkins, W. A. (clipping) Galt (image) W.A. Hopkins Gunner W.A. Hopkins is on active service with the Royal Canadian Artillery. His wife and son reside at 20 Brant Place, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hopkins, live on Manitoulin Island. Gunner Hopkins was born at Mindenoya on Manitoulin Island. Before enlisting, he was employed at the Stauffer - Dobbie plant. He enlisted with the artillery June 4, 1941. In civilian life he was a miner and lived in Timmins before coming to Galt. Gunner Hopkins first enlisted with the infantry. He was given an honorable discharge and then started all over again and listed in the artillery. He attends the United Church .
