Private and Gunner, Herbert Lewis Bullock was born April 4, 1879 at Port Perry, Durham County, Ontario. He was the son of Malvina Hulbert and Charles Bullock of Berlin (Kitchener), Ontario.
Although living in Berlin (Kitchener), Ontario, Herbert enlisted at Windsor, Ontario on 22 April 1916 with the 99th Battalion and later served with the 20th Battalion. His Army service number was 214309, he was single, a labourer, 5' 4", with a chest of 31 inches, of clear complexion, with blue eyes, light hair and a Presbyterian.
On 28 August 1918 while serving with 20th Battalion of the Canadian Infantry (Central Ontario Regiment) at Vis-En-Artois, France, Private Bullock was killed instantly while using a Lewis gun during an attack on an enemy post. He was shot through the head by a bullet from the rifle of an enemy sniper.
Private Herbert Lewis Bullock appears in the Book of Remembrance at page 377 and is buried in Grave 49, Plot 1, Row B, at Vis-En-Artois British Cemetery, Haucourt, Pas de Calais, France.
