Enlisted March 1, 1916 at Hespeler with the 111th Battalion.
He was born in Canada and his next of kin is Mrs. Fanny Bruce, Hespeler, Ontario.
He won a Military Medal at Amiens, France while rushing a machine gun front.
He came through without a scratch and was not sick a day. He arrived in Hespeler, May 21, 1919.

Enlisted with the 111th Battalion on March 20, 1916.
His home is in Blair, Ontario, and he was only seventeen years and four months when he enlisted.
He trained in London and also in England and landed in France on November 14, 1916. There he transferred to the 4th Battalion and he also served in the 1st Brigade French Motor Battery.
He saw much service at the front, was at Vimy Ridge, Fresnoy, Messines, Lens, Passchendaele, Cambrai, Amiens, Arras, Valenciennes.
He was twice wounded, on June 11 and on June 24, 1917.
He was gassed in 1918.

Enlisted with the 111th Battalion, March 20, 1917.
He was born at Barrie but was employed at the Canadian Office and School Furniture Company of Preston.
He was killed in action November 11, 1917 at the age of twenty-four.
He was the son of Robert Morris.
Private James Frederick Ward was born on September 2, 1884 in Woodford, Northamptonshire, England. He was the son of Emma Trusler (formerly Ward) of 247 St. Andrew's St., Galt, Ontario and the late Mr. Ward.
He enlisted on February 7, 1916 in Galt. At the time of his enlistment, he was a machinist, single and a member of the Presbyterian Church. His regimental service number was 730484.
He served in the 4th Battalion, Canadian Infantry. He died of his wounds suffered during the Battle of Vimy Ridge on April 11, 1917.
He is buried in the Aubigny Communal Cemetery Extension in Augbigny, France.
