Preston, April 20.-- Gunner Hector J. Adams, 36, has been slightly wounded while in action, according to a telegram received here by his brother, Charles Adams, Waterloo St. Other Information is unavailable.
Gunner Adams enlisted with the R.C.A. in 1942 and went overseas last year. While on this side of the ocean he was stationed in Newfoundland.Prior to enlistment he was employed at the Preston Furniture Co.
William Adams, father of the wounded man, also lives in Preston.

William Charles Adams enlisted with the H.L.I. of C. on June 4, 1940. He was born at Preston Feb. 20, 1920 and was a shoeworker before joining up. His father, C.R. Adams, served in the 34th battalion in the last war and two uncles and his grandfather also saw active service. One uncle, Wm. Adams, was killed in action and the other uncle, Geoerge Adams is now in the Home Guard in Windsor. He holds the rank of acting sergeat. His religion is Anglican. He had been with the regiment a year before it went on active service.
Private William Adams (Regimental/Service #7115), enlisted on September 15, 1914 in Valcartier, QC, with the 1st Battalion, Canadian Infantry (Western Ontario Regiment). He was born in London England on September 21, 1895, and is the son of William and Bridget Adams of Middle Street in Preston, ON. At the time of his enlistment, he was not married and he worked in the shoe trade. He listed his religion as Church of England. William died on May 7, 1915, as a result of wounds he received in action at the Battle of Langemarck. He was 19 years of age. Laid to rest at Boulogne Eastern Cemetery in France. Grave reference: VIII. C.2.

William was a laborer born in Edinburgh, Scotland 29 Jul 1885, a widower, he listed his daughter Williamina Elspeth as his next of kin. According to his Attestation Papers. According to Ancestry Public Tree he was married to Williamina Espeth Craig who died in Toronto 15 Oct 1914. The daughter with the same given names returned to Scotland and died in 1998. Williamina is buried in the Necroplis Cemetery, Toronto, and her address was listed as New Comers Inn according to the Necropolis Cemetery Records on FamilySearch.org Williamina and her daughter Williamina arrived in October 1910 in Quebec headed for Galt according to: Canada Passenger Lists, 1881-1922 on FamiySearch.org

Pte. Harold Addis, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Addis, 105 Cedar street, is overseas with a Western Ontario regiment. He enlisted in January, 1941. Pte. Addis was born in Preston on Nov. 15, 1922 and received schooling at Preston public school and the Galt Collegiate. Before enlisting he was employed at the Scott Shoe Co. plant. An uncle, Pte. John Hughes, was killed in action in the First Great War. Pte. Addis' religious denomination is Anglican. He was active in Scouting for a number of years in Galt and was a leader for one the local troops.

Albiston, Alfred William
Alfred was born 27 October 1895 in County Staffordshire, England. At the age of 15, he was living in Birmingham, England and was employed as a cabinet makers improver.
He arrived in Saint John, New Brunswick on 14 January 1920. He pursued the occupation of carpenter.
The Soldier Card indicates that Private Albiston enlisted at Preston, ON and did not get overseas. No records of attestion or service have been located.
Alfred married Stella Sauder of Preston, Ontario on 1 July 1924 in Galt, Ontario. At this time he was living in Royal Oak, Michigan, which was their home for the rest of their lives. Alfred and Stella had two children.
Alfred became a United States Citizen on 21 February 1933. He died 15 January 1990 in Madison Heights, Oakland, Michigan, USA.
