Ball, Howard [clipping] 24 Nov 1944 Cpl. Howard Ball Mrs. Matha Pauley, 79 Water St., Waterloo, sustained a shrapnel wound in his leg in action in Holland, several weeks ago. His mother received a letter written from a hospital in Belgium on Nov. 10, in which he stated the stitches had broken out and would have to be replaced. Mrs. Pauley has not heard from her son since that time, and does not know whether or not he is back in action. She is making inquiries through the Red Cross. Cpl. Ball was born at Dauphin, Man., and worked on the family farm near Winnipeg prior to enlisting with the South Saskatchewan Regiment in November, 1941. He went overseas in July 1942, and went to France on D-day. His mother moved to the city about a year ago.
