Opened in 1832, Riverbank School was one of the first schools established in Waterloo County. In its early years, it was called the High Banks School, and later, Waterloo Township S.S. No. 15. The original log structure was replaced by a frame building, and later a stone schoolhouse around 1870. The school was closed in 1961. Riverbank School was purchased by the Waterloo County Library Board and later opened on 16 October 1965 as the Waterloo County Library.
This photograph appears on page 74 of the 1965 Waterloo Historical Society annual volume.
