Private James Forbes Clark was born in Fergus, Ontario on 13 Aug 1875, to Scottish immigrants Jane Mitchell Murrison and Forbes Clark. At the time of his birth the family was living at Lot 25, Concession 8, Fergus, Ontario. In 1901 the family was still living in Fergus, Ontario and James, the second oldest child of 11 children, was working as an egg packer. Prior to enlisting on 2 Jan 1916 with the 111th (South Waterloo) Overseas Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force at Galt, Ontario, under service number 730292, James was active with the Highland Light Infantry unit. At enlistment he was single, residing at the Fire Hall in Galt, Ontario and a baker by trade. His religious affiliation was Presbyterian and his mother, residing in Walkerton, Ontario, was given as next of kin. In 1921 James was once again living at the fire hall at 56 Dickson St., Galt, Ontario.

Jackson, Cecil [clipping] Galt Reporter Sept 1944 Lt. Cecil Jackson Gives Life in Italian Battle Lieut. Cecil Jackson, 24, who enlisted from Galt in September, 1941, has been killed in Italy, according to an offical reprot received Saturday by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Jackson, of Fergus. Harold Jackson, 85 Lowell St., Galt, is a brother. Lieut. Jackson worked here at Newlands and Co. for four or five years where he was very highly thought of. He was in the firm's cost department. While in Galt he had lived with his brother and sister-in-law and also at the Robert Marshall residence, Aberdeen Rd. S. An enthusiastic lacrosse player, he played with the Hespeler junior team about 1939 and then before he left to go in the army he was playing with Hamilton tigers. Coming to Galt from Fergus where he attended school and was graduated from Fergus high school with the highest honors, he was commissioned from the ranks after enlisting in September, 1941. After an officer's training course at Brockville and in western Canada he proceeded overseas and went to Italy last spring. He was a member of Melville United Church, Fergus. His father served in the First Great War and surviving besides his parents are two brothers, Harold of Galt, and Rev. T. L. Jackson, Beaver Lodge, Alta., and one sister, Mrs. Walter Smale, of Fergus. He was the youngest of Mr. and Mrs. Jackson's three sons. [clipping] 12 Sept 1944 [image] Killed - Lieut. Cecil Jackson, 24, of Galt and Fergus, was killed in action in Italy on Sept. 1. A son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Jackson, Fegus, he worked at Newlands and Co. four or five years before enlisteing in September, 1941. He used to play lacrosse for Hespeler juniors and then Hamilton Tigers. Harold Jackson, Lowell street, is a brother. He was serving in Italy with a reconnaissance battalion.

Parker, William John Signaller. Enlisted April 5, 1916 with 111st South Waterloo Battalion and transferred to 10th Battalion B.E.F. Methodist. Born in Fergus Dec. 21, 1893 educated at Preston School and at Galt Collegiate Institute. Single. He was in England from October 1916 to May 1917 studying to be a signaler. He went to France in May and was in action until he was killed August 15, 1917 at Hill 70. As he was going back to the communication trench he was hit in the neck and side by shrapnel and the wound proved fatal. His next of kin is Margaret A.Parker, Preston, Ontario. In two days' fighting previous to his death he kept up communications so well during the hard fighting that his superior officer recommended him for bravery.
