AIGNER, Acting Lance-Cpl. Frank John, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Aigner, 16 Euclid Ave., Waterloo.
Lance-Cpl. Aigner lost his right arm in battle. His parents had been out of town on a short holiday and were confronted by the news on their return yesterday. A telegram from the minister of national defence stated:
"Acting Lance-Cpl. Frank John Aigner suffered an amputation of the right arm as a result of severe shell fragment wounds received in action, July 8, 1944." Further information is promised, when available.
Cpl. Aigner, who is 22, enlisted with the H.L.I. in June, 1940, and went overseas a year later. He was employed at the Canada Barrels and Kegs Ltd.
Born at St. Jacobs, he went to public school in Waterloo, and also attended the K-W Collegiate.

Waterloo Man on Hospital Car
LONDON, Ont., Sept. 27, 1944 (CP) - Casualty cases from the battlefields of France and Italy, 41 soldiers arrived here today aboard two hospital cars. They arrived in Canada recently aboard a hospital ship. Despite a pelting rain, a large crowd gathered to welcome them.
Those who will remain in hospital here for further treatment include Lance-Cpl. F.J. Aigner, Waterloo; Pte. J. Hoshoian, Galt; Pte. W.W. Nichol, Preston.
Lance-Cpl. Aigner, 22, suffered an amputation of the right arm as the result of severe shell fragment wounds received in action, July 8.
He enlisted with the H.L.I. in June, 1940, and went overseas a year later.

3rd Son Arrives In Old Country
Waterloo Boys All With the R.C.O.C.
With receipt of word today that their con, Pte. Ross Amy, has arrived safely overseas, Mr. and Mrs.
Oliver Amy of 59 Menno Street, Waterloo, now have three sons serving with the Canadian Army in
England.
“We’re proud to have three sons serving with the Canadian Army, and glad in many respects to have
them serving in the same unit,” Mrs. Amy, mother of the three said today.
They are all with the Royal Canadian Ordinance Corps in England.
First son to land across the water was Staff-Sgt. Bruce Amy, 23,who enlisted two years ago, and
has been overseas since Christmas of last year.
Second son overseas was Pte. Reginald Amy, 26, who enlisted a year and nine months ago and has
been overseas since Christmas of last year.
Pte. Ross Amy, youngest of the brothers, enlisted on Oct. 22 last, his 21st birthday.
