William Henry Knack, son of Mr. and Mrs. Amiel Knack of Preston, joined the 11th field ambulance in Guelph Sept. 13, 1939. He was born in St. Catharines, Feb. 4, 1920 and later moved to Preston with his parents where he received his education in Preston public and continuation schools. Before enlisting he was employed as a salesman. He is a keen follower of sports and was an outstanding tennis player, having won both the junior and senior championships of the Preston tennis club three times. His father served in the last war with the 34th and 18th battalions. He is a member of St. Peter's Lutheran church. Pte. Knack is married, his wife living in London.
