A photograph showing the same storefront appears in Berlin Today 1806-1906. According to the 1901-1903 Vernon's City of Berlin and Waterloo directory, the C.W. Hagen shoe store was located on the north side of King Street East, Berlin, Ontario, just past Scott Street. The directory does not list a street number for the store, but the proceeding store listed has a street number of 96. According to the 1907 Vernon's City of Berlin, Waterloo, and Bridgeport directory, the C.W. Hagen shoe store became Sippel & Hagen and moved to 11 King Street East, Berlin, Ontario. Please see P000654 for Sippel and Hagen storefront photograph.

Notes
The source of the photo is "Berlin to-day: official souvenir 1806-1906". Date indicated on reverse of photo is 1856. However, based on from information found in the book "Hannes Schneider and His Descendants" (page 250B) and from Waterloo Historical Society annual 1978 volume (pages 91-92), this date is wrong. The actual date of the photo is probably circa 1865 when the Fusch's block was erected. This photo is in good condition, with creases.
