Notes
Berlin's Carnegie library was opened in 1904 and was located on Queen Street North at the corner of Weber Street, Berlin (later Kitchener), Ontario. The building was renovated in 1916 to include a wing for a Children's Library, a second floor addition and a history room in the basement. The Carnegie Library was replaced by a new library building located at 85 Queen Street North in May 1962. William D. Best was a photographer in Berlin from 1903 to 1907.

The Berlin Public Library was opened on 8 January 1904. It was located on Queen Street North, at the intersection of Queen and Weber Streets. The building of the library was funded by a Carnegie Corporation grant. The Berlin Public Library became the Kitchener Public Library in 1916. The Carnegie building as replaced by a new library building, located at 85 Queen Street North, Kitchener in 1962. The Carnegie Library was replaced by a new library building located at 85 Queen Street North in May 1962. Concerned by the lack of library services to children, Chief Librarian, B. Mabel Dunham started one of Canada's first story hour programs for children at the Berlin Public Library in 1912. By 1916, she opened a separate children's room in the Library.
