The men in the photograph are likely affiliated with the Kitchener Horticultural Society (KHS), which took over the Christmas decorating of King Street and City Hall, during the KHS presidency of Charles H. Janzen. The only man identified in the image is Charles Henry (C.H.) Janzen, on the far left. He is holding the outer edge of the Christmas star light decoration. Charles Henry Janzen was born on 9 Sep 1880 in Berlin, Ontario. Janzen, who was president of the Kitchener Horticultural Society from 1934-1963, was instrumental in the civic beautification movement in Kitchener, including the development of Rockway Gardens and the Janzen Horticultural Gardens on King Street East. Charles Janzen died on 31 December 1963.
