Pte. John Adamos
May 16, 1945
Pte. John Adamos, who came to Canada with his family in late 1938 from Macedonia, Greece, has been wounded while fighting with the Essex Scottish in Germany.
Born in 1928, he is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Dimitro Adamos. He attended school in Greece and in Kitchener. Prior to joining the Canadian Army he was a waiter at the Queen's Restaurant.
Pte. Adamos, whose emlistment was in July, 1943, went overseas before Christmas, 1944. Embarking from England, he fought in Belgium and Holland, before continuing to Germany.

Preston, April 20.-- Gunner Hector J. Adams, 36, has been slightly wounded while in action, according to a telegram received here by his brother, Charles Adams, Waterloo St. Other Information is unavailable.
Gunner Adams enlisted with the R.C.A. in 1942 and went overseas last year. While on this side of the ocean he was stationed in Newfoundland.Prior to enlistment he was employed at the Preston Furniture Co.
William Adams, father of the wounded man, also lives in Preston.

Listowel, Nov.1.-- Mrs. Hugh B. Adams was notified by casualty headquarters at Ottawa yesterday that her husband, Trooper Hugh B. Adams, who was wounded in action on Aug. 18 while serving with an armored unit in France, is being invalided home. He sustained injuries to his right arm.
The 37-year-old soldier was born and raised at Norwood, Ont., and , prior to his enlistment, had been employed for a number of years by the Atlas Construction Co. of Montreal.
His wife, whom he married on Aug.9, 1942, at Botwood, Nfld., was formerly Marjorie Felker, of Listowel and Montreal.

Waterloo County P.O.W. on Way Home From East
A letter and a telegram are small things but those received by Mr. and Mrs. L.L.Adams, R.R.3, Kitchener, from their son, Pte. Lawrence Adams, 23, over the weekend, were instrumental in making Thanksgiving the happiest in their lives.
The telegram received Saturday announced that Pte. Adams, a Japanese-held prisoner-of-war for almost four years, was on his way home.
Released from the Jap prison camp only on Sept. 15, Pte. Adams wrote the letter from Guam and the telegram from California where he had just landed.
The missives were the first, other than a card and letter, which his anxious parents had received from the young soldier since his internment in December, 1941.
"We had more to be thankful for this Thanksgiving than ever before in our lives," said Mrs. Adams in announcing the receipt of the telegram.
It is expected that Pte. Adams will arrive home within the next two weeks. He will be the first prisoner-of-war from the Twin City area to be released from Japanese hands.
Delay in the release of Pte. Adams is thought by his parents to be due to the fact that he was held in Camp No.5, Tokyo, where the prisoners have been put to work in mines.
Pte. Adams informed his parents in his letter that he was well but anxious to get home.
The youthful soldier enlisted with the Royal Canadian Regiment in June 1940, later transferring to the Quebec Royal Rifles before going overseas in October, 1941. He was taken prisoner shortly after the fall of Hong Kong in December, 1941.
Pte. Adams' wife, Frances, who has been residing in Orillia, is coming to stay with Mr. and Mrs. Adams to await his return.
