Black and white exterior view of the front of Sheriff George Davidson's home, called Forest Hill, in Berlin, Ontario. The lane-way, lined with trees, is visible in the foreground. A man wearing a long beard is visible to the right of the house. A man and a woman are seen seated on the veranda, and a baby carriage with the blurred image of an infant is also visible at the far right of the veranda. The top of a gazebo is can also be seen on the far right.
George Davidson was the first Post Master of Berlin (1842) and the first sheriff of the County of Waterloo, starting 1856. He also held positions as councilman and school trustee. Forest Hill was built in the 1850s and later became the Rumpel Estate. The house was demolished in 1966 and Cameron Heights Collegiate Institute was built on this site in 1967.
