Lieutenant Donald C. Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Anderson, 438 Wellington street, Preston, joined th Highland Light Infantry of Canada (AF) on July 14, 1941, and is now stationed at the officer's training centre at Brockville and received his elementary education at Chatham. He attended Galt Collegiate Institute for 3 years and the Preston high school for two years. He was a member of 2nd Btn. H.L.I. of C. for a year. The young officer is well-known in Preston. Prior to his enlistment he was employed as an office clerk at the Eastern Steel Prodcuts for two years. He was a member of the Rover Scouts, Chicopee Ski Club, and the United Young People's Class. Active in sports, Lieut. Anderson was a member of the Preston basketball team which played in the Galt City League; he played rugby and hockey for the Preston high school teams and he was also a member of the school track team. He is a member of St. Paul's United church. Four uncles served during the Geat War.

Lt. D. ANDERSON WOUNDED SECOND TIME IN EUROPE
Word that their son, Lieutentant Donald C. Anderson was severely wounded in action on October 20, presumably while serving in Belgium, was received last evening by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Carman Anderson, Dover street, Preston. This is the second time Lieut. Anderson has been wounded since the invasion of Normandy.
The message, from teh director of records, Ottawa, declares that "nature of second wounds are not yeat available, and will be forwarded as soon as received," and adds that he is 'in hospital."
Lt. Anderson, serving with the H.L.I.of C., was in the thick of fighting in Normandy right from the start. He was first wounded in action while service in Normandy in July this year, receiving 17 pieces of shrapnel in the legs, arm and abdomen, and was in hospital in England for a period before returning to the front. At teh time he was first wounded he was the last of the original officers in charge of his company, all others having been put out of action or killed since the invasion opened June 6.

PRESTON, Nov. 1. - Lieut. Donald C. Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Carman Anderson, Preston, reported severely wounded in action a second tmie, while serving in Belgium on Oct. 20, is now reported to have sustained a shel fragment wound of the left eye. Official word to this effect was received from the director of records last evening by his parents. The message added that further details would be forwarded when received.
