CPL A.P. AWENDER
Cpl A.P. Awender, 24-year-old Kitchener soldier whose wife, Mrs. Catherine Awender, lives at 42 Ahrens St. W., was wounded in Germany on March 8. His mother lives in Toronto.
Cpl. Awender's injuries are reported to consist of a wound penetrating the abdomen, colostony (abnormal tube-like passage in the colon) and injury to the right arm. He is recuperating at No. 24 Canadian General Hospital in England.
Enlisting with the Royal Canadian Regiment on June 26, 1940, he went overseas seven months ago. Most of his training in Canada took place at Camp Borden. In addition he had taken a paratrooper's course in the west.
Born in Toronto, he was employed at the J.M. Schneider Ltd. plant prior to enlisting.
A brother, Pte. John Awender is stationed at Petawawa.
