Rifleman Dorscht
Rifleman Gerald J. Dorscht was killed in action on Oct. 11, his parents have been informed. He was serving in France.
The 21-year-old soldier first offered his services on May 8, 1941, with the Royal Canadian Engineers, but was considered too young. He re-enlisted on Dec. 17, 1942, this time as an infantryman. Prior to joining the army he was employed at the Sunshine Waterloo Co. Ltd.
Rifleman Dorscht had been overseas five months, before he gave his life for his country.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his sister Marie and brother Hubert, both at home.
Rifleman Dorscht's father is a veteran of three years' service in the First Great War, fighting in Belgium and France.
