These two brothers, Albert Harold Eldred and Edward Ernest Eldred, are both on active service with the 1st Battalion H.L.I. of C. Albert is a bugler attached to "A" Company and Edward is a private attached to Headquarters Company. They are sons of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. J. Eldred, 21 Front Street. Albert was born in London, England, July 2, 1908 and Edward was born in Galt, Dec. 24, 1916. Albert is married and his wife and son and daughter (twins) live at 19 Charles St. Edward is not married. They both attended Victoria school in Galt. Edward also went to the G.C.I. Both were shoe-workers before enlisting. A third brother, Fred Eldred, is with the 2nd Btn. H.L.I. of C. and during the last war five uncles saw active service and their father was sergeant major of the 34th Battalion. Albert had been with the H.L.I. of C. for 12 years before the unit was mobilized to war strength. Both are Anglicans in religion.
