MAJ. R.J. McPHERSON
Major Robert John McPherson is the acting second-in-command of the
Highland Light Infantry of Canada. He has been with the regiment since
his appointment as a 2nd lieutenant in 1931. He became a full
lieutenant in 1932, a captain in 1934 and in 1937 received his majority
command of B Company. Born on March 20, 1906, in Puslinch township, he was
educated at Riverside school, the G.C.I. and the O.A.C. from where he
graduated with the degree of B.S.A. At the O.A.C. he was in the C.O.T.C.
for four years. Since his graduation he has farmed on the East River road
and taken an active interest in militia matters. He is married and his wife
lives on R.R. 5, Galt. In the last war, an uncle, Major A.J. McPherson,
went overseas with a Regina Battalion. Another uncle, L. Amos was a driver
with the 55th O.A.C. Battery in Guelph.
