This pergola was raised by the Waterloo Chapter of the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire (I.O.D.E.) in 1907. It is rectangular in shape and consists of rustic wooden beams and fourteen, low pillars. The walls, pillars, and floor are inlaid with the headstones of Galt pioneers, which were taken from the St. Andrew's Cemetery and the United Presbyterian Cemetery.
A similar photograph appears on page 79 of the 1964 Waterloo Historical Society annual volume with F.W.R. Dickson credited as photographer.
