Black and white photograph of a group of women holding musical instruments in a gymnasium. The women are dressed formally. All of the women are seated, except for two violin players. A young man, wearing a tuxedo and holding a baton, is standing behind the women, slightly to the left. An upright piano is partially visible in the background, behind the women. A basketball hoop is visible in the upper right hand corner of the image.
It is believed that this is a photograph of the St. Mary's Parish Hall and gymnasium in Kitchener, Ontario, located at the corner of Weber and Ontario Streets. The school later became known as St. Mary's High School in 1930.
Ernest Denton was a photographer in Berlin/Kitchener from approximately 1912 to 1955. He operated photography studios at various locations in the city.
