Sapper Harvey Arndt (Regimental/Service #751578), enlisted on March 28, 1916 in Berlin, Ontario with the 118th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force. He was born on February 18, 1898 in Berlin, Ontario.
At the time of his enlistment he was not married and his trade was a shoemaker. He listed his next of kin as Emma Arndt (mother) of 22 DeKay Street in Berlin, Ontario and his religion as Lutheran.
He was later transferred to the 256th Overseas Railway Construction Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force. His unit sailed from Halifax on March 26, 1917 aboard the SS Missanabie and arrived in Liverpool, England on April 7, 1917. On May 31, 1917 he was transferred to the 10th Canadian Railway Troops, and arrived in France on June 19, 1917. Harvey served throughout France and Belgium.
