Baker, George William

George was born on May 28, 1894 in Epsom, Surrey, England. He came to Canada on the ship "Southwark" in 1904 at age 10. He lived at the Coombe Home for boys in Hespeler. He enlisted at Warkworth, Ontario on Nov. 25, 1915 and served with the 87th Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force.
His next of kin was Mrs. H. Fairs of Tillsonburg. He married Theresa Morris Oct. 25, 1920 at Galt. They had 5 children (Harold, Kory, George, Gladys and Helen) and resided at 76 Beverly St., and later 39 Rich St.in Galt.
He married Florence Henry later on in life, after his first wife passed away. He died August 3, 1956 and is buried in the Veteran's section of Woodlawn Cemetery in Guelph, Ontario.
