Ertel, Joseph Zuber
Private.
Born at Bloomingdale, Ont. and drafted by the U.S. Army at Detroit, June 24, 1918.
He was at the time 28 years of age.
He joined the 310th Engineers, No. 2984594, and went to Camp Custer, Michigan.
He went to England and in two days was sent to France and served in the following actions- Alsace-Lorraine August 14 to September 5, 1918. Argonne Forest September 8 to October 16, 1918.
Returned to U.S. in January, 1919.
He was gassed slightly but sustained no wounds.
He now lives at 168 Moore Ave., Waterloo, but his mother still resides at the old farm home in Bloomingdale.
Honorable discharged.
