Enlisted August 16, 1916 with 75th Battalion
and was transferred in England to 11th
Brigade Band, 4th Canadian Division Bramshott
Camp and in France to the 54th Battalion.
Church of England.
Born October 16, 1882 in England and educated
at Darwen Lane, England. Came to Canada March
1913.
Unmarried.
He was killed in action November 18, 1916 while serving in a soup kitchen in one of the communication trenches on the Somme front. As assistant cook he and two others were instantly killed by a shell that made a direct hit on the kitchen.
His next of kin is Mrs. Alice Knack, Hewitt St., Preston, Ontario.
He left Toronto on March 24, 1916 and reached
France August 14, 1916.
