Gunner.
Gunner Howard Hurst, foster son of Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Hurst, St. Jacobs, enlisted in the 71st Battery at Toronto on Feb. 26, 1918.
He trained at Exhibition Camp and left for overseas on March 4th 1918 on the S.S.Metagama landing at Liverpool.
He trained at Whitley Camp in England and left for France on Sept. 25th 1918, with the 11th Battery C.F.A. and saw active service along the Denaine and Valenciennes sectors.
He returned from France on April 14th 1919 and after spending 34 days in England set sail from Southampton on the S.S. Aquitania.
He got his discharge May 27th 1919.
