Lance-Corporal.
Lance-Corporal John W. Musser, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Musser of St. Jacobs enlisted in the 54th Kootaney Battalion on Sept. 1st 1915. He trained two and one-half months at Vernon B.C. and left for overseas November 14th 1915, on the S.S. Saxonia landing at Plymouth December 1st.
He trained at Bramshott until August 1916 when he crossed to La Harve, France. He saw active service at St.Eloi, the Somme Vimy Ridge where he was wounded in the face and arm by a high explosive on March 1st 1917. He was in hospitals at Comiers, Sheffield, Bushy Park and Orpington, but was ready for service again in June 1917, when he entered a Forestry Corps for seven months.
He received his stripe in November 1917, returned to Canada in March 1918 and received his discharge in July 1918.
