Private Alfred George Crump was born in London, England on 24 Mar 1892, eldest son of Clara Tonks and Alfred George Crump. The family immigrated to Canada in 1905, residing for several years in Hamilton, Ontario before moving to Galt, Ontario.
George enlisted at Galt, Ontario on 25 Oct 1914 while actively serving in the militia with the 18th Battalion, and previously with the 29th. His regimental number was 53898, he was single, a machinist, Church of England and next of kin was his father Alfred George of North Water St., Galt, Ontario. His father and brother also served in WWI.
In 1920 George married Lillian May Norton in Wentworth, Ontario. George and Lillian had one daughter and 6 sons, 3 of who fought in WWII. In 1921 George was residing at 7 Elgin Street, Galt, Ontario, where he continued to be employed as a machinist. By 1929 George was again residing in Hamilton, Ontario.
By 1924 and still a machinist, George and family, emigrated to the U.S.A., becoming a naturalized citizen in 1950 while residing at 26-4 Vista Colorado, Needles, California. George died 26 May 1966 in Sacramento, California and is buried at Sunset Lawn Memorial Park in Sacramento, California.
