Private James Russell Bullock also known as Russell, was born 11 July 1897 at Doon, Waterloo County, Ontario. He was the son of Elizabeth A. Mathews and George Edward Bullock of Preston, Ontario.
While living in Preston, James received a Military Service Act Letter Numbered 756335-AC drafting him. After receiving his draft notification, he enlisted at London, Ontario on 14 March 1918. Although James did not go overseas, he was attached to the 1st M.D. 1st Depot Battalion, W.O.R. under Regimental No. 3131173.
At the time of enlistment in 1918, James was single, a shoe finisher, 5' 8 ½", with a chest of 32", fair complexion, blue eyes, light brown hair and a Presbyterian. His next of kin was his father George Bullock of Preston, Ontario.
By 1921 James was still single, working as a finisher and living with his parents on Hedley Street, Preston, Ontario. In July 1929 while still living in Preston, Ontario, James Russell Bullock married Beatrice Jean G. Woodley in Preston, Ontario. James died 10 December 1962 and is buried at Memory Gardens, Breslau, Ontario.
