Private Joseph Bushour was born 4 Jul 1892 in Rockland, Ontario. He was the son of Eliz McDougall and Stephen Bushour.
Joseph enlisted at Berlin (Kitchener), Ontario on 17 Apr 1916 with the 118th Battalion. His Regimental number was 751682. Prior to his 1916 enlistment, he had served 1 year with the 29th Regiment. At the time of his enlistment Joseph was residing at 246 Wellington St., Berlin (Kitchener), Ontario and his next of kin was his wife Evelyn of the same address. He was 24 years of age, a bottom finisher of shoes by trade, 5' 8" tall with a 33" chest, clear complexion, hazel eyes, dark brown hair, and his religious affiliation was Evangelical.
On 26 Aug 1914 at Berlin (Kitchener), Ontario, Joseph, now a labourer knife setter, married Evelyn (Effie) Ringle. By 1921 Joseph was a carpenter residing with his wife and in-laws at 9 Glasgow St., Kitchener, Ontario.
