Lance Corporal Albert Edward Butcher was born Sept. 15, 1886 in Old Alresford, England to Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Butler. He was a member of the Church of England.
Albert moved to Hespeler, Ontario on June 1, 1913. Prior to enlisting Albert married Annie Barker on May 20th, 1914 and worked as a carpenter.
Albert enlisted on Sept. 6, 1914 and went overseas with the 1st Battalion of the Canadian Infantry.
Unfortunately, Albert died in the field of battle on April 30, 1915 in the Second Battle of Ypres. He was 28 years old. Alberty was laid to rest in Wimereux Communal Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France.
