The store is a large brick, two-storey, building with large upper and lower verandahs. A large sign bearing the name "Elmira House" can be seen above the second floor windows.
On the left side of the building, the following words are painted: "Elmira House, Hardware, Groceries and Dry Goods, Ready Made Clothing, J. Ruppel."
A sign on the far right side of the second story veranda railing reads "J.E. Streeter, Tailor."
Seven men can be seen standing on the 1st floor veranda, left to right: Henry Winger, Henry Zilliax, J. Ruppel, Isaac Groff, J.F. Ruppel, Henry Ruppel, and George Ruppel.
Three women and one man can be seen standing on 2nd floor veranda, left to right: Phoebe Haack, unidentified woman, Louise Haack, Jim Streeter.
The Elmira House was built in 1860.
The image is very fragile. The mat is stained, creased and cracked at the corners. There are two tears in the mat.
