The tragic word that their son, Pte. Thomas Ward Alexander, 20, had given his life in action with the canadian forces in Germany, was received by Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Alexander, Queen St. East, last evening.
Pte. Alexander was born in this district and at the time of his enlistment was employed at the Hespeler Furniture Co., Ltd. plant. He went overseas shortly after the Christmas season.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. Alexander of Hespeler, four brothers, two of whom are now serving with the Canadian forces overseas, Cpl. James Alexander, whose home is at Sheffield, and Paratrooper Jack Alexander, and Roddie and Hugh Alexander at home; and two sisters, Mrs. R. Winfield, Silver Heights, and Mrs. C. Orton, of London.
