Pte. Clayton Brush, above, was killed in action in Italy early this month, according to an offical report received yesterday by his wife, a British war bride, who arrived in Galt about three weeks ago. He is a son of Mrs. Edward Grainger, 26 Dumfries street,. On the eve of Mrs. Brush's departure from the United Kingdom, a robomb hit a hostel where she and her son were awaiting passage and they lost all their possessions except those which they were wearing.

Pte. C. O. Brush is killed in action fighting in Italy
Pte. Clayton Orval Brush is officially reported as killed in action early in December. He had been serving in Italy for about two years. The official telegram announcing his death was received by his wife and mother at 26 Dumfries street this morning. The telegram came about an hour after a letter was received from the soldier. It was sent from Rome and contained pictures of his visit to the city.
(Born at Windsor on March 8, 1920, Clayton Brush lived most of his life in that city. He was working as a farm hand near Elora when he enlisted in January, 1940. His mother moved to Galt about a year ago.
Pte. Brush is survived by his wife and son David Clayton, aged two years and two months; his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Grainger; two brothers, William who is in England with a Toronto Scottish holding unit and Edward who lives in Windsor.
Pte. Brush's wife is a British war bride who arrived in Canada about three weeks ago. She was formerly Rose Emma Rose of London, England and was married to Private Brush on May 10, 1941.
