This house was built in 1826 on a site in Breslau, Ontario that overlooked the Grand River. The log house was later framed and eventually stuccoed in 1930.
The original owners of the home were Jacob Kolb, a farmer and gunsmith, and his wife, Kathrine Clemens. The property was retained by the family throughout the years, with the exception of outside ownership between 1928-1930. In 1930, A.L. Shantz, great-grandson of Jacob Kolb, purchased the property and in 1943 he sold it to his daughter, Mrs. Lorene Bickle. In 1989, the City of Kitchener was deeded the land where the home was located. The property is now known as Kolb Park.
